REMOVAL OF PORTABLE BUILDINGS
I am writing to inform you of the removal of 4 portable classrooms. As part of the government’s initiative to rid schools of any portables containing asbestos, we have four classrooms being removed and replaced with new buildings. These are rooms 30,31, 28, & 29.
We expect the portables to be removed next week, on Oct 13 & 14, and the new buildings installed following this. At this stage, we are unsure of the exact time that it will take to install the new buildings in readiness for the children to move back in, but we hope it will only be a couple of weeks.
As a result, we have developed a plan to ensure the disruption of the four classes is minimised. This involves the grades relocating temporarily to the following areas:
1L & 1S – Year 6 end of the BER building
2R & 2S – Back of the library
We are planning to move the classes to these locations on Thursday 6th October. This will then allow us to remove items and prepare the site in readiness for the removal of buildings.
I want to reassure you that all safety precautions and regulations have been and will be followed by us as a school, but also the contractors who are very experienced in this type of work.
We appreciate your support during this time, and we look forward to welcoming the four grades into their new classrooms in a few weeks’ time.
